As Electronics Weekly notes, “the problem with switches in wet rooms, spa and pool facilities, requires not only the right choice of switch technology, but can often require unusually long cables to which Schurter’s answer is piezoelectric switch PSE”.

The new PSE EX switches use pre-assembled polyurethane cable that offers high IP protection while installing with its maximum flexibility. The 15 meter cables are waterproof from switch surface to connection. The switch is installed by using a nut.

The piezoelectric PSE family uses stainless steel (1.4462) for its housing which has a very high resistance to corrosion. This helps overcome corrosion issues created in areas with high humidity.

Tested to 20 million actuations, the Schurter PSE switches provide long service duration with maximum reliability. Hermetically sealing the housings means the PSE with cable will be a go to for “particularly harsh and inhospitable applications.”

“Originally developed for spa and pool builders, it is suitable for use in any sanitary application,” the company told EW. These switches can withstand pool chemicals and chlorinated liquids.

Medical technology, food processing or similar industrial applications can take advantage of these switches. The range of supply voltage is between 5 – 28 VDC and has a constant brightness. The ring illumination of these switches come with 7 possible display colors.
