Tyco Relays

Tyco Relays We offer the broadest range of relays and contactors in the world. Our line includes leading brands such as AGASTAT, AXICOM, CII (Communication Instruments), HARTMAN, KILOVAC, OEG, P&B (Potter Brumfield), PRODUCTS UNLIMITED and SCHRACK, as well as TYCO. Switching capabilities range from dry circuit to 1,600A, up to 70kV, and as high as 6 GHz. Electromechanical, solid state and hybrid types range from SMT PC board mount devices to large panel mount units. Our broad line of relays features expansive sets of options for enclosure, termination, input, contact arrangement and rating. High performance types are designed specifically to operate in extremely rigorous environments (shock, vibration, temperature, altitude) such as encountered in military and aerospace applications.

  • Aerospace, Ground Power and Industrial High Performance Contactors
These high current contactors are designed for application in demanding conditions (extremes of temperature, shock, vibration, etc.) Typically either hermetically or gasket sealed, they are offered for panel, plug-in and bus bar mounting. Many are customized to specific customer requirements and offer complex auxiliary switch arrangements in addition to their main contacts. Some meet military/aerospace specifications.

  • Automotive Relays & Modules
Automotive relays and modules are optimized for use in motor vehicles (lower voltage dc loads). Modules package one or more relays with other circuitry. Panel mount, plug-in and PC board versions of these products are offered. Electric wheelchairs and battery powered material handling equipment are among other applications for these products. These relays typically do not carry marks from agencies such as UL, CSA, VDE, etc.

  • Communication/Signal PC Board Relays
Relatively small, these relays are designed to switch signal-level loads in communications systems, test gear, thermostats, instrumentation, consumer electronics and industrial equipment. Some switch maximum currents up to 5 amps, but they usually switch only milliamps in application. These relays typically have relatively low operate and release times compared to general purpose relays. Most are sealed, and some offer surface mount terminals.

  • Definite Purpose Contactors
These contactors, typically rated 20 amps and higher, are designed for use in HVAC systems, as the main power control for industrial equipment and in other such applications. They have from one to four poles, utilize double-make/double-break contacts and may include one or more auxiliary switches. In contactors, the contact motion is typically linear, whereas the contacts usually move in a slight arc in power relays.

  • High Performance Solid State Relays and Power Controllers
The hermetically sealed or encapsulated solid state products in this category are designed for application in demanding conditions (extremes of temperature, shock, vibration, etc.) Some incorporate circuit protection or other logic functions in addition to their switching capability. PC board and panel mount types are included. Models meeting military/aerospace specifications are available.

  • High Performance Time Delay Relays
These timers are designed for application in demanding conditions (extremes of temperature, shock, vibration, etc.) They combine an internal timer, fixed or adjustable, with either an electromechanical or solid state output relay. Models meeting military/aerospace specifications are available. PC board and panel mount types are included. Many of these products are custom designed to meet a customer's specific requirements.

  • High Voltage Relays
These relays are specifically designed to switch high voltages. Some switch only several hundred volts, and others switch up to 70kV. They perform their switching function in either a vacuum or a gas-filled chamber. Some make and break loads, while others only carry current. RF rated models are available. Ceramic, glass and encapsulated types are offered, as are a variety of termination options.

  • Latching/Bistable, Impulse, Rotary and Special Application Relays
This category includes relays that incorporate a mechanical or magnetic latching function, as well as relays that have a rotary actuation for excellent resistance to shock and vibration. Also included are relays that are designed for use in a particular application such as electrical switchgear. It should be noted that latching versions of other relays may be found in several other categories.

  • Low Signal High Performance Relays
These hermetically sealed relays, rated five amps or less, are designed for application in demanding conditions (extremes of temperature, shock, vibration, etc.). They offer from one to six poles, and some can switch up to 6GHz. Enclosures range from TO-5 and 0.100 grid relays to full size (crystal can). PC board, plug-in and panel mount types are offered. Models meeting military/aerospace specifications are available.

  • Mid-Range High Performance Relays
These hermetically sealed relays, rated to switch loads from five to 25 amps, are designed for application in demanding conditions (extremes of temperature, shock, vibration, etc.). Standard size models offer one to six poles, while compact models offer two to four poles. PC board, plug-in and panel mount types are offered. Models meeting military/aerospace specifications are available.

  • Mid-Range PC Board Relays
The relays in this category are typically rated to carry maximum currents from three to 20 amps in a broad range of commercial and industrial applications. The splash-resistant, flux-tight and sealed models in this category were specifically designed for mounting on a printed circuit board. Some plug-in/panel mount general purpose relays (separate category) are also available with PC terminals as an option.

  • Plug-in/Panel Mount General Purpose Relays
These relays are typically rated to carry maximum currents from five to 20 amps in a variety of commercial and industrial applications. With one to eight poles, they were originally designed to be plugged into a socket or mounted to a panel, but some also offer PC terminals as an option. Both open and enclosed models are included, and there are many contact and enclosure options. Some offer indicators and mechanical test buttons as options.

  • Power PC Board Relays
The relays in this category are typically rated to carry maximum currents greater than 20 amps in a broad range of commercial and industrial applications. The open, enclosed, flux-tight and sealed models in this category were specifically designed for mounting on a printed circuit board. Some of these one- or two-pole relays also offer panel mount options. The power relays category also includes some models with PC terminals as an option.

  • Power Relays
Power relays are typically rated to carry maximum currents greater than 20 amps in a broad range of commercial and industrial applications. The open and enclosed models included in this category were originally designed for mounting on a panel, but some models offer PC terminals as an option. Auxiliary switches are available on some of these one- or two-pole relays. The power PC board relays category also includes some panel mount models.

  • Relays with Forcibly Guided Contacts ("Safety" relays)
These relays have contacts that are mechanically linked so that their normally open and normally open contacts cannot be closed simultaneously, even in the event of a malfunction such as welded contacts. They are used in elevators, escalators, light curtains, press controls and other critical applications. These enclosed relays with two, four or six poles are designed for PC board mounting, but some models have been adapted for DIN rail mounting.

  • Sensors, Monitors & Protective Relays
These devices use internal electronic circuits to detect, monitor and/or sense current, voltage, frequency, phase and/or power. They either open or close a circuit when certain pre-set conditions exist. Some have a hermetic or gasket seal and are designed for demanding conditions (extremes of temperature, shock, vibration, etc.) such as might be found in a military or aerospace application. Others are designed for panel or DIN-rail mounting in an industrial environment. Many are adjustable by the user, and some are highly customized for a given application.

  • Solid State Relays & Input/Output Modules
Products in this category perform their switching function with solid state components. Solid state relays offer one, two or four outputs and can switch up to 125 amps. They are available for panel or PC board mounting and are used in many diverse applications. Input/output modules are designed for industrial automation systems. They may be plugged into mounting boards (also in this category) or mounted on a PC board. Output modules can also perform as solid state relays.

  • Time Delay Relays & Timing Modules
These timers are designed for application in a broad range of commercial and industrial applications. They combine an internal timer, fixed or adjustable, with either an electromechanical or solid state output. Time delay relays have contacts rated up to 10 amps, while timing modules typically control an external relay that performs load switching. Plug-in and panel mount types are included. Some are single-function timers, and others offer multiple functions that may be field programmed.
